Manchester United Louis van Gaal is planning a £150million summer transfer spending spree and has the British trio of Gareth Bale, Danny Ings and Nathaniel Clyne on his list.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Dutchman has had the Burnley striker, who is also wanted by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, watched closely in recent weeks.
However, as Ings is out of contract at the end of the season, United would only have to offer Burnley around £3m in compensation, which would be a bargain for a player who has scored nine times in the Premier League this campaign.
The minimal outlay on Ings would also enable United to go after Bale, who is enduring a difficult spell at Real Madrid currently.
If Real did agree to sell the Welshman, the Spanish giants would want to recoup the majority of the £86million they paid to sign the winger from Spurs in
Southampton and England full-back Nathaniel Clyne is the third target on United’s radar. With Rafael looking to be on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season and Antonio Valencia only ever a stop-gap at full-back, United are in the market for a right-back.
United have been monitoring his progress this season and are reportedly prepared to bid £20m for the 23-year-old’s services.
