NHS Scotland has stated that infectious diseases procedures have been put into action.According to Kay Burley at Sky News, the patient will be transferred as soon a possible to London’s Royal Free Hospital, which successfully treated the UK’s first Ebola victim, nurse Will Pooley.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: ‘Our first thoughts at this time must be with the patient diagnosed with Ebola and their friends and family.

‘I wish them a speedy recovery.

‘Scotland has been preparing for this possibility from the beginning of the outbreak in West Africa and I am confident that we are well prepared.’

The victim had flew into Glasgow on a British Airways flight at 22:30 on Sunday evening from Sierra Leone via Casablanca and Heathrow.

While public health officials have stated the risks are ‘neglible’, they have set up a helpline for all those who travelled on the Heathrow to Glasgow flight on 08000 858531.
